Sinovel Wind Group is the largest manufacturer of wind turbine in China. It is also the second largest manufacturer of wind turbines in the world. The company's global headquarter is located Beijing, People's Republic of China. By 2015, the company has the goal to become world's largest manufacturer of wind turbines. This company is the first high-tech firm in China that has been involved in design, development, production and sale of wind turbines in large scale. The proprietary products from Sinovel Wind Group include SL-6000, SL-5000, SL-3000 and SL-1500 series of wind turbines. The SL-6000 series of wind turbines have adopted highly advanced generator technology. These offshore turbines are based on gearbox transmission systems which ensure high economy and greater reliability. The turbines from the SL-5000 series have been developed with the help of the variable-speed generation technology. The SL-3000 turbines have LVRT capability and employed several global patented technologies. The SL-3000 series of wind turbines are compatible with all types of environmental conditions, grid codes and wind zones in the world. The SL-1500 series was the first product of the company. Sinovel Wind Group has signed a contract with Desenvix, the renewable power generation wing of ENGEVIX (a leading Brazilian engineering firm) to deliver a total of 23 units of SL-1500/82 wind turbines for a 34.5 MW wind farm in Sergipe, Brazil. It is expected that the commissioning of the wind turbines in the Barra dos Coqueiros wind farm is expected to be carried out by July 2012. Senior management at Sinovel has decided to start a new manufacturing facility in Brazil to demonstrate its strong commitment to the new market.
