Epsom salt  is edible in small quantities. Its flavour is not that refreshing as that of the sea salt. Epsom salt is a chemical compound containing magnesium, with the formula MgSO4·7H2O. Epsom salt was originally prepared by boiling down mineral waters at Epsom, England and afterwards prepared from sea water. In more recent times, these salts are obtained from certain minerals such as epsomite.

Do we use Epsom salt for cooking?

Epsom salt is not used for cooking. It is used  externally for relieving stress. In agriculture and gardening, magnesium sulfate is used to correct magnesium deficiency in soil, magnesium sulfate is used as a bath salt,  It may be used as a treatment of an ingrown nail and oral magnesium sulfate, or magnesium oxide, is used as a laxative

 

Epsom salt is used in medicine and as laxative 

  • Magnesium, a major component of Epsom Salt, is vital for many bodily functions.
  • Magnesium can be taken internally or you can get the same benefits from taking bath with Epsom salt.
  • Relieves  from Constipation. Dissolve 2 to 3 teaspoons of Epsom salt into a cup of water and drink twice to get relief from constipation.
  • Epsom salt has varied uses like in gardening and agriculture, body healing, preparation of medicines, and cooking.
