There are many homemade remedies which are easy and quick to prepare and that saves money. Homemade brown sugar scrub is a popular scrub as it is an easy way to exfoliate your skin. Brown sugar contains from 3.5% molasses (Light brown sugar) to 6.5% molasses (dark brown sugar) giving it a high mineral content. Brown sugar has soothing aroma that encourages relaxation. It is good for the skin as it gently exfoliates the surface layer of dead skin cells. It removes excess oil and dirt. The scrub exfoliates the skin cells which helps in unclogging the pores making the skin silky soft and smooth. Brown sugar is softer than white sugar and smoothens the skin better than salt.
• 1 cup brown sugar- it is used as an exfoliating agent.
• ½ cup sweetened almond oil (Can also use sesame oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil etc), it is used as a moisturizer.
• 1 tsp Vitamin E
• ½-1 tsp vanilla extract- for fragrance
One can use oatmeal, which is a hypoallergenic and it is great for oily skin. Use of Aloe Vera gel helps in healing severely chapped or dry skin. Lemon which is a natural disinfectant can be used to give nice aroma. Vanilla, peppermint, lavender, grapefruit oils can also be used as these things make you feel smooth and smell delicious. These make the body relaxand help with relieving stress. Lavender heals and nourishes the skin. Peppermint invigorates your senses. Vanilla will make you smell yummy. Natural fruit (which are good cleansers)or dairy products (which are good for dry skin, they rejuvenate the skin by removing the dead cells and making the skin smoother) can also be used in preparing a brown sugar scrub.
Place the brown sugar in a bowl
Add almond oil (You can prefer other oil which suits your skin type).
Add Vitamin E oil.
Add the vanilla extract
Stir to combine, when this scrub is ready it is ready to apply on face.
Moisten your face with warm water.
Scoop out a bit of the scrub and apply to your face.
Massage the brown sugar from shoulders to feet. Focus on dry skin and rough patches. Don’t be rough with the scrub as it could damage your skin. When finished rinse off with warm water. And can finally wash it off with the soap if needed.
Gently massage on your skin in circular motion and leave it for 10-15 minutes to increasing the nourishing benefits.
