DIY stands for do it yourself home projects. Doing home projects yourself saves a lot of money and the projects you create  can also be fun. Purchasing new furniture can be expensive with the current recession it doesn't hurt to do a few DIY projects. Painting furniture is one of the DIY home projects that takes very little time but can make a big difference. Some pieces to consider painting are bookshelves, especially those that are built in, a kitchen table and chairs, garden. Some DIY home projects take very little money and time, but can have an excellent effect on your home. DIY projects may seem intimidating, especially for first timers, but starting out small can be beneficial. Starting off with a small budget and planning something like your garden too would be a good way to spruce up your yard. 

What are different types of DIY projects?

•  You could make your own backyard deck. Talk to your close by hardware store like Homedepot or Lowes and they can help you with some basic idea on what to buy and how much. 
• Updating your Porch
• Redesign your yard by adding a small water body with a fountain or making a Japanese style garden which doesn't require as much water and constant watering saving you on the water bill as well.
• Painting Kitchen Cabinets
• Adding a new style of railing to the stairs
• Adding a new window topper to your kitchen window will make the kitchen look different
• Instead of getting new kitchen cabinets you can refinish your cabinets to give them anew look
• Make a Kitchen Island on wheels that will make space
• You can make delicious edible gifts and decorate them in cellophane ith ribbons which will give it a beautiful personal touch and make the person feel special
