We all know the name of Thomas Alva Edison, the man who made the first houselhold bulb along with the gramaphone, and a whole lot of other extremely useful inventions which has made our modern life possible. One of the products he invented was the Secret generator. The used the principle of electromagnetism to make an electric generator in the year 1831. But did we ever hear about his secret generator formula? This Edison’s secret generator has been lying in a secret place and all forgotten. It is said that various power sector companies have tried their level best to suppress this subject matter so that none of us ever get to know the secret of producing power without cost. We can now get some clues about its working and try constructing one to see that how is it different from any other method of generating power.
The electric generator at its initial form was devised by Edison on the works of Michael Farday. The electromagnetic current generated by rotating a conductor which was copper in a magnetic field created between two opposites poles of magnets was used to make this generator. The more lines of force between the magnets the higher the efficiency of the generator. Edison modified a Faradays concept and used large bipolar magnets to improve the efficiency. According to him the smaller the internal resistance of the generator, the higher is the power output. He made a steam generator where steam was the driving force for the prime movers. The driving force is the mechanical energy from the steam generator was supplied to the conductor(copper) to rotate in the field to produce current. So the thermal energy first got converted to mechanical energy in the prime mover and the conductor finally converted it to electrical energy.
The principle of Edison's secret generator discards the idea of non renewable energy. It states that current can be produced without any dependence on dwindling resources of fossil fuels. Thugh the steam he used in his generator that rotates the prime mover is generated by burning coal which is a dwindling resource. But in his secret generator, Edison thought of producing the current by turning the magnetic energy of earth into electrical energy. We all know that the earth’s core behaves like a big magnet and this core magnet’s energy is used to produce current.
Try out a very simple experiment to find out the amount of voltage produced as a result of this Edison’s secret generator. In your garden you can take two pipes, one made of copper conductor and the other pipe is made of galvanized iron. The galvanized iron is big enough to contain the copper conductor but it is just kept in touch with it at its mouth and that acts as a source of magnet. We would basically try to make a magnetic earth cell battery out of this set up. This whole set up can be implanted in your garden. This copper has to go inside the GI pipe. And then take a 35 feet wire gauge travelling up till the other end of the garden above the earth. The copper pipe coming out from the other end through the galvanized pipe which has travelled under the earth should be in the southern direction while the copper wire is at its north in terms of alignment. Now with a multimeter we can check the voltage generated from this set up by placing one end of the positive wire on the wire gauge and the other end on the copper conductor in touch with the galvanized iron. The voltage may be of the order or 2 or 3 volts. This may require lots of improvements but we can try this at a very small level in our homes or for more information, read the book on Edison’s secret generator.
