Knitting is an art which one can start with little guidance and tips. It is an art which includes needlework  where two needles are used to spin yarn and hence fabrics are made. Though the process takes time  but once learnt it becomes easy and almost a habit for the ones who do. This art becomes addictive as it leads you to think of the various possibilities of  designs and patterns that you can knit.

Do you need classes to learn Knitting?

A teacher or proper classes are not at all required to learn this art. An expert or experienced elder is enough. A close, attentive watch is enough and a word or two on how to go about with it. You can also ask for feedbacks from them once you have started knitting and go on improving as and when required.

Is there a book for beginners on Knitting?

There are quite a number of books on knitting which teach you how to do it. As far as choosing one is required, you should go for the ones which have pictures and glossaries well illustrated. It is also recommendable that you go for the books which have proper definitions of all the terms and things are well expressed. If you find loop holes in one book, or you find things not properly mentioned, you can always go for more books to be efficient.

Is there Online help for Knitting?

Beginners may go for online help and learn by watching instructional videos.  A number of videos can be found on youtube. You can also find tips and suggestions on these sites from experienced knitters. You can book mark these pages and save them in your reference files so that you can go to it whenever required. 

How long will it take to learn knitting?

Learning speed varies from person to person. Though practice is an important thing and counts a lot towards one's learning. It is better to go for the basics first and then move on to more difficult levels. One can start with simple items like scarf or coaster. It better to carry the yarn with you and keep practicing whenever you get a moment or two, or whenever you are free. There is absolutely no need to be scared of experimenting and you can always go for anything unique that you have thought of. But it's advisable that you take care not to jumble it up and make a knot out of it as it can lead to wastage of the yarn as well your time.

What tools are required to Knit?

There is no necessity of buying all the knitting tools available. You can just go for the few basic ones and move on to other tools according to your knitting levels. The sizes of yarn should be according to the size of  the needles. It is good to go for better quality yarns whose strands do not bifurcate, because that might lead to knots and complicate things. Start with less fancy yarns like those that are not not fuzzy and are very simple. Crochet needles should be used for the main knitting works. Also it's better to use longer knitting needles, for shorter ones are time consuming. Follow your interests and desires while knitting and starting with simple design that you like. Knitting should be enjoyable and can be an outlet for your creativity.
