Why did Carol Browner become famous?

Carol Browner was the EPA (Environment Protection Agency) administrator. She served the Clinton administration for a very long and was the longest serving administrator as of date. She is considered a national expert on the environmental regulations. She coordinated the administration’s climate change issues and environmental energy policy related activities. She played the role of an environmental guard. Her post in President Obama’s administration was newly created.

What were Carol Browner's contributions in Barack Obama's administration?

The transition team of Barack Obama’s administration looked up to Carol Browner for her expert advice. She helped them out immensely with the policy making plan on energy and environment. The policies made in Obama’s administration were highly different from those that were made in George W. Bush’s administration. The policies framed during those times were criticized radically by Browner and she referred to them as “Worst Environmental Administration Ever.” She took the initiative to lead the task of clearing the "BP Oil Spill in Gulf" in the year 2010. Her calm and composed nature had helped to deal with such complicated situation. Entire world was impressed with the way she delegated her responsibilities.

Why did Carol Browner decide to quit?

The environmental adviser to Obama planned to leave and vacate her office. She declared this in the month of April 2011. A well defined and comprehensive climate change bill collapsed the previous year. This bill was very important to her as it was the primary mission of her office and indeed her long term career goal. As this bill collapsed she decided to vacate her office. She felt that there is hardly any chance for it to be implemented in near future because of the majority of the current House Republican. It was very unfortunate that she took the decision for leaving her post right at the time when Obama was all geared up to work on his business credentials. However, Carol Browner always felt that for Obama’s administration, green technology development and environmental protection through sustainable energy would always remain in the top priority list. She was pleased that the budget allocation was also well planned for the work to continue uninterrupted. She believed that the mission of her office would not be forgotten after her departure. Environmentalists were very hopeful that she would have played a fantastic role in upholding the integrity of the environmental protection issues. But after her departure many fear a huge amount of instability in the EPA section of U.S.A. administration.
