What is a Ball Point Pen?

  • Ball point pen is normally used for writing on a paper. Actually the idea of inventing ball point pen was done in 1888 but it became successful  only in 1945. Gimbels gave a demo on the ball point pen. He sold the first pen in United States. And the rest of the entire stock of 10,000 penswere sold at $12.50 each.
  • The ball point pen has a moving sphere made with brass or steel to eject the ink and helps for writing. Ink is fed in to cartridge inside the pen and it is attached to the rotating ball which is used for writing and acts as a seal for blocking the ink from escaping.
  • Thickness of the line depends on the width of the rotating ball. Quick drying ink is used and it is kept moist inside the cartridge by the rotating ball.
  • Ball point pen ink can be removed easily by using alcohol, shaving cream and hair spray which is a easy and a non-expensive process.
