What is a Carousel?

•  Carousel is a mechanical rotating device normally used in airport for collecting luggage. The word carousel was derived from the French word carousel and Italian word carosello.
• Carousel is generally defined as a circular rotating stage with seats provided for riders to ride. The origin of carousel was in Europe. Earlier 7,000 carousels were created but at present only 300 are in use.
• The usage of carousel began to decline at that stage America developed those carousels in to the stage what they are present today. Maximum number of carousel originals is present in New York and You do not have access to view this node.
• The first  carousel began on April 19, 1945 in New York. Earlier in history carousels were used to test the rider’s skill. 
• In the olden days the Carousel was played differently. The Arabians in the 12 th century used it to test a riders skill. Scented clay balls were thrown at the Riders. If the clay balls did not touch them they were considered to be superior Riders. The French in 17th century modified this game  by replacing the clay with wooden wheel and suspended horses. A pole was in the center of the circle and a horse revolved around it. The goal was to spear a brass ring placed on the outside of the machine.
