Workation

A workation is similar to a vacation where you can take your work along with you. Rather than sitting in ones office, surrounded by four walls, a workation allows one to go on a vacation destination and take ones work along with them. One has to attend meetings, make tele or video calls or even finish projects while on a workation.

How does a workation work?

Workation allows work along with leisure activities. But workation for a company would require to give priority to work first and then on leisure interests. A company usually offers seminars, trainings, conferences and such events in other cities or countries where an employee has to travel to. Usually these companies see to it that the employees they send for such a workation is working mostly during the daytime, at office hours and the evenings as well as weekends are left free for the employee to enjoy and explore the destination. Here you are paid for the work as well as for the trip.

Another type of workation works in a way when an employee is on vacation but has to take his/ her work along. This usually happens when working on a particular project or when one has to meet deadlines. One might be forced to take their work along with them to complete a deadline. Here the risk is that you are usually not paid for the work and the time you take out from your vacation, since in this type of workation you, yourself go on a vacation instead of the company sending you somewhere.

What is a Summer workation?

When people are expected to stay connected to their work during their summer vacations, it is commonly known as Summer Workation. This is usually helpful for teachers and students too who want to stay connected and finish projects during their summer vacations. Even office employees who take summer vacations would like to stay connected to their work from the comfort of their homes or vacation spots by replying to work related emails or by attending virtual meetings.
